for how to get copies of these materials on CD or by download: Please email: iwrm@ IWRM.org Subject Line: "How to get IWRM2004 / other resource materials" Thank you
PLEASE NOTE: Below is a copy of what was on the Local Site for the IWRM2004 Course Web Page in Switzerland. The course is completed. It was highly successful according to the 35 diverse participants from 25 countries plus feedback we had from the faculty and guest lecturers. IWRM.org endeavours to support and facilitate events of this nature. At the moment - no training programs are forseen by WBI for here in Switzerland. PLS check with the World Bank Institiute for infomration about what they may be doing in Washington and around the world in IWRM training in the future. As of 2008 - it seems that there is not any recent World Bank Insititute priority in IWRM training [the case since 2005]. On the other hand - in 2008 - there are some continuing and now emerging courses/certificate programs in areas close to or actually called IWRM. See the EVENTS and LINKS page [being updated as we write] for further details.

A commonly annual global Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) course provides policy-makers, water managers, operators, stakeholder representatives including water-user associations and NGOs, the opportunity to directly address challenges of sustainable development (SD) targeted at aspects of improved comprehensive and effective water resources management. It focuses on strengthening their ability to impact and implement means of reaching SD particularly related to water sector reform in their country/region. The highly interactive and intense five-day IWRM experience examines opportunities, benefits and disputes in the use and management of water resources in their economic and social development context and setting while maintaining clear goals related to their environmental needs and objectives.
Beyond introducing IWRM’s basic elements, the course looks carefully at key policy, institutions, legal and regulatory considerations and economic principles as well as critical interaction of social, ecosystem and hydrologic dimensions in fair and reasonable practices in water management.
The course conducted in English integrates knowledge and skills-building tools such as formal lectures, case studies, exchange of local and global experience, a field visit, and facilitated group exercises. It enables participants to implement their experience with what they are learning in concrete situations.
